VIMEA Shout-Out on KEXP Morning Show Donation Drive Fall 2013

We love radio station KEXP and are big supporters.  The Friday morning at the end of a pledge drive is always fun and crazy on The Morning Show with John Richards so we decided to contact him on-air.

Shango Los testifies at WSLCB Meeting

VIMEA founder, Shango Los testified in front of the Washington State Liquor Control Board on October 8th, 2013 regarding rural values and the integration of legal marijuana agriculture.   He spoke to the need for farm community organizing to support the implementation of I-502.  "The best way to ensure that marijuana agriculture in implemented in line with local social mores is to begin a public discussion.  If we want the marijuana on Vashon Island to be grown in accord with our values, we must make it socially acceptable for our good neighbors to apply for a license before off-islanders do."

Supportive exposé in our local The Beachcomber newspaper!

We are thrilled to receive such thoughtful and articulate press as appears in this week's Beachcomber.  During our interview, editor Natalie Johnson took the time to really understand our agenda and ask questions about our motivations.  She goes on later in the companion editorial piece to throw the weight of the newspaper behind our efforts and give us a thumbs up in front of the whole island.  This is what effective community organizing looks like!
